Discovery Preschool

Claudia is now 2-1/2 years old, so she moved up classrooms to Discovery Preschool, which is 2-1/2 to 3 (give or take). It's a smaller group of kids, they're all potty trained, and it's less wild than her previous classroom. Claudia seems to enjoy her new classroom because she likes calm and order, and also, she has befriended an older girl who is a fun and gentle playmate. She has always been very shy and quiet at school, but she is opening up a lot and is more confident to talk now.

At home, Claudia's favorite questions are "where are you?" and "what are you doing?" In the mornings we get woken up by, "mommy daddy where are you?" She is really good at saying "thank you" and it cracks me up when she says it in a sultry voice: "than-k you mom-me." She is able to sing more songs now, like her ABCs and some of her favorites like Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle, and Round The Garden. In her new classroom, they go potty by themselves, so she often times wants to do that at home too, so she says "I need my privacy" and runs down to the bathroom on her own. Impressive!

She is in the stage now where she is particular about things. She always wants a very specific color binkie, type of toy, kind of blankie, and color/type of dishes. She refuses to wear jeans now, and sometimes she rejects particular colors or items of clothing. Fortunately, she is still pretty good about food. She will usually try most things we're eating and the ones that surprise me are her liking fish and liking to dip bread in soup.

For fun lately, Glen & I made one last trip to Alta for the season and my mom took Claudia for the weekend (grandpa was on a business trip) so we could go by ourselves! It was relaxing, but I wasn't quite sure to do with myself and I actually missed hanging on the deck with Claudia playing Mr. Potato Head. Although, the car ride over was lovely and sleeping in was blissful. Some of our friends/neighbors were over too, so Glen had some golfing buddies because I wasn't golfing until the afternoon when it warmed up over 60 degrees.

We went to the Issaquah Salmon Days festival, which is a very family-friendly affair. Claudia went on a train ride, in a bouncy house, and even rode her first pony.

And last, but not least, Auntie Neely & Emilio got engaged! We look forward to their wedding next year (probably September) and she doesn't know it yet, but I'm sure Claudia will have a ton of fun being a flower girl.
